Hi all Jeanneau sailboat owners. I would like to share some upgrades I have made to my Sun Magic 44, 1990 mod. S/Y Havbris, NOR 8855. It is a very good boat. Solid and trustworthy in heavy weather.
I needed a new chart plotter, but on old boats like this, there is no obvious place to locate a lot of instruments.
Luckily, the previous owner installed an instrument pod which has place for wind, echo, auto pilot and bow thruster panels. But no place for a chart plotter.
I got some inspiration from Per Lund when he installed a scanpod on his SO 43DS.
I had to think a bit and use wood. It is what I know best (I also have a 1947 International One Design; oregon pine, oak, magogany and teak).
Think I found a good solution. Have used this for a week now (300 nm). It has been fantastic.
Being able turn the screen to the sides is now the question "Why did I not have this 15 years ago?".
Thank you Per for sharing your solution.
